Creative Long Exposures with SparklersSparklers offer a magical way to introduce light painting into your holiday portraits. Set your camera on a sturdy tripod and switch to a slower shutter speed, around two to five seconds. Instruct your subject to stand as still as possible to keep their features sharp, while using the sparkler to draw shapes like “2026”, hearts, or abstract swirls around themselves. If the subject’s face is too dark, use a low-power flash set to rear-curtain sync. This technique fires a brief burst of light at the very end of the exposure, beautifully illuminating the person while retaining the glowing trails of light.
